Saturday I was supposed to work, but because my schedule shifted from 4-12:30 to 1:30-10, my body was not happy.
Actually, the initial problem was that I was supposed to finish up at 12 instead of 12:30, but the bus couldn't schedule us for a different time. So while we finished at 12, we still got picked up as if we were working til 12:30, and so I didn't get home til 1:30 in the morning.
Then I had a choice. I could either get up at 9:00 and head out to driver's ed or I could get up at 10:00 for work. My body chose to wake up at 8:30, and I realized that the extra hour and a half wouldn't make much of a difference, so I opted to get up. Instead of going to work, I finished up my driving class and now I have my license. At least something good came of all of this.
So.
Saturday I did a lot of sleeping and Sunday I did a lot of grocery shopping. It was a beautiful 70 degrees on Sunday. Then it dropped and has been high 30s/low 40s every day since.
Monday I got up and went to work at the normal time, although I was incredibly fatigued. My body still wasn't quite ready to go to bed at the new time, and so I tossed and turned until about 2 or 3 in the morning. I waited until 11 to get out of bed (I have to leave at 12) and had to return a call to a place that I had thrown my resume to, and who decided to express some type of interest in me. They asked me to come in Tuesday morning for a test.
I got to work and realized that with this new schedule I arrive 30 minutes before my supervisor. Well, shit. The big problem with this was that I had no keyboard. Kind of hard to log into the computer with no keyboard. And I couldn't remember my login number for the phone either. (I remembered the numbers that are in it, just not the exact sequence.) After flailing around for a while, I found a different supervisor and got everything fixed and happy, and went on to take calls.
That night I got a call right before the end of my shift, which caused me to miss my bus. I had to call up the dispatch and see what could be done, and while they were happy to send someone back out to get me, I didn't get home until after 11.
Tuesday I had to wake up at 8 to get the bus at 8:40 so I could get to the place of business by 10. I actually got there at 9:30 or so, because it's not that far from the bus stop. I even went to Starbucks first. The bus either gets you somewhere an hour early or late, and I always choose "an hour early."
They let me take the test early, which was nice of them, and then I went downtown to see if there were any food options that were open before 11.
No.
Somewhere in here I lost my bus fare and it flew away. Thanks, wind.
I opted to forego food in favor of getting the 11:00 bus rather than waiting until the 12:00 bus, which would leave me all of 20 minutes to eat lunch. Instead I took a bus that goes by the supermarket and grabbed a frozen dinner and some snacks for work, and went to work that hour early. I was already absolutely TIRED. But I got to work anyway and ate.
All day I had weird calls with complicated problems I was not equipped to solve on my own. Our help desk had a 15-20 minute wait, so that was extra fun. I got bitched at for 40 minutes by a lady who just wanted to complain, but I handle that kind of thing by just letting her go and being patient. It's all I can do. Except after that my adrenaline was jacked and I had to take a few minutes to breathe.
And my computer was absolutely fucked. Did I mention that? No? Right. It was. When I first came in I had tried to log in, but it wasn't working. I restarted IE, then restarted the entire computer. All day it was giving me a weird status message, not populating caller information, and then when I tried to go on break? It just decided to put another call through. No break for meeee. Somehow I got the break button to work by pushing it a lot.
I did finish work on time, so that was good.
Wednesday I had an interview for the job I tested for on Tuesday, and another job test. So at this point I'm working on NO SLEEP HI BRAIN WHAT? I had to get up at 8:00 again and head off in the cold to the downtown area, then walk the 20 minutes or so to the business. With little sleep over the last two days, no food, nothing to drink, I had to do a job interview. Which is always stressful. Then I had a test that was confusing as shit and had (at least) two errors in it. Also awesome.
After that I went downtown, got the food I had wanted yesterday and headed home. The bus was kind of late, but I got home.
Except I had my driving appointment at 2. So that happened, and at the end I asked to be dropped off at the supermarket. I parked in the parking lot and was ready to go take care of my grocery needs when the driving teacher asked if I would rather go to the DMV. Well, yes and no. I need groceries but going to the DMV is a pain since it's quite far from everything. So we instead went off to the DMV and I had my picture taken despite my gross hair (when have I had time to shower?), and now I have my license.
But the bus wasn't going to be back for another 40 minutes.
So I walked all the way to the bus stop where I would transfer to get home.
And I beat the bus by about 10 minutes.
And I went home.
And I was so dead tired that I slept from 7-10:30.
Which means my sleeping for tonight is ruined.
I probably didn't get the job. I may have fucked up the test for the other job. I'm tired. I hate my current job and want to quit, but everyone always says to have another job lined up before you do anything like that. And jobs aren't like dandelions. They don't just pop up everywhere. But I need to do something because I'm taking calls in my sleep, and that's no fun. Way too much stress for a body that does not like stress one bit at all.
But I found a dime. Now I just need to find 90 more cents to make up for that dollar that blew away.
